Francis

The FRANCIS database is created by the Institut de l’Information Scientifique et Technique of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (INIST-CNRS) in Vandoeuvre-les-Nancy, France and is an invaluable resource for research libraries. FRANCIS is a multilingual, multidisciplinary database covering the humanities and social sciences. Its broad subject areas and international scope make it an ideal stand-alone social science database, as well as a suitable complement for more specialised databases. FRANCIS is strong in areas such as archaeology, geography, linguistics, philosophy, psychology, religion, and sociology. The database contains approximately 2 million records, with abstracts in French or English, and descriptors in both languages, and includes coverage of journals, books, conference papers and other documents.

FRANCIS can be accessed directly by clicking here or can be searched within the findit.lu portal. Find out how by clicking here.

The Modern Language Association (MLA) International Bibliography indexes books, articles and dissertations published on modern languages, literature, folklore, and linguistics, providing coverage from 1926 to the present from all over the world. It includes the MLA Thesaurus or Subject Guide providing the user with a means to obtain highly precise results, to discover related terms on which to search, and to develop ideas for refining or expanding your research.

The MLA International Bibliography also includes the MLA’s Directory of Periodicals, which offers detailed information on more than 5,500 journals, with 4,400 currently indexed in the Bibliography. The entries include editorial contact information as well as frequency, circulation, subscription prices and submission guidelines.

Credo Reference Language

Credo Reference provides authoritative content that covers every major subject – from art to medicine, psychology to history, and technology to literature. The award-winning titles in Credo Reference are from over eighty of the world’s leading academic publishers. Proposed content undergoes a highly-selective process before being chosen for the Credo platform and is selected from a range of reference types – including general and subject encyclopaedias, dictionaries, biographies, bibliographies, chronologies, handbooks, atlases, and more. Credo’s collections are continuously updated to reflect the most relevant, up-to-date content.

Credo Reference’s technology enhances the content by adding millions of cross-reference links – related entries – that cut across topics, titles and publishers to deliver accurate, contextual results from across the entire collection. The Concept Map, a data visualization tool, is ideal for visual learners for brainstorming and the discovery of related content.
